AVAC: Global Advocacy for HIV Prevention

AIDS Vaccine Advocacy Coalition (AVAC) is an international non-profit organization that uses education, policy analysis, advocacy, and community mobilization to accelerate the ethical development and eventual global delivery of AIDS vaccines and other new HIV prevention options as part of a comprehensive response to the pandemic.


HVTN: HIV Vaccine Trial Network

The HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) is an international collaboration of scientists and educators searching for an effective and safe HIV vaccine. The HVTN’s mission is to facilitate the process of testing preventive vaccines against HIV/AIDS.


Out Alliance of Genesee Valley

The Out Alliance of the Genesee Valley is a Champion for LGBTQ Life and Culture. They envision a future where all members of the greater Rochester LGBTQ communities, at all stages of their lives, are free to be fully participating citizens, celebrating their lives in which they are safe, stable and fully respected.


International AIDS Vaccine Initiative

The International AIDS Vaccine Initiative is a global nonprofit organization working to speed the search for a vaccine to prevent HIV and AIDS. IAVI sponsors public-private research partnerships to build vaccine candidates and test them in humans. IAVI also advocates on behalf of vaccine developers worldwide, and for public policies to assure that when an AIDS vaccine is found, it will be accessible to all without delay.


The Body

The Body is a service of Body Health Resources Corporation. The Body’s mission is to use the Web to lower barriers between patients and clinicians; demystify HIV/AIDS and its treatment; improve patient’s quality of life; and foster community through human connection.


Trillium Health

At Trillium, patients and clients receive the comprehensive range of cutting-edge medical care and support services they need, conveniently located under one roof. They offer an expansive array of medical, prevention, and social services, making it easier for patients and clients to receive the complete care they need.

One of the many programs at Trillium Health is The MOCHA Center (Men of Color Health Awareness). MOCHA is a peer driven initiative which has been in existence since December 1996. MOCHA provides HIV/AIDS education/outreach, and community development for men of color who are identified as gay, bi-sexual or men who have sex with men (MSM) or young men who have sex with men (YMSM). Currently, several funding sources support MOCHA Center’s programs to provide education, prevention & intervention to youth who are MSM’s of color and may be at risk for contracting the HIV virus

HIV/AIDS Network Coordination

The Office of HIV/AIDS Network Coordination (HANC) works with the HIV/AIDS clinical trials networks of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) with the intent of creating a more integrated, collaborative and flexible research structure. The networks are an affiliated group of national and international medical research institutions and investigators that conduct clinical HIV/AIDS research to develop safe and effective drugs, prevention strategies, and vaccines.
